School to School support
School to School Support: to identify and help schools that need support
As well as working with and supporting our alliance schools, we are also keen to support schools from outside our alliance. Below we have detailed some of the key strengths of The Furze-Warren Hard Federation and our Strategic Partners.
If you are interested in accessing support or expertise in any of these areas, please contact us.
Key strengths of the schools in our alliance
Across the primary schools in our alliance, we currently have substantial capacity to offer support in the following areas:
Teaching and learning
Assessment for learning/ data/ tracking
Closing the attainment gap (particularly in relation to children on Free School Meals)
Continuing professional development (CPD) and leadership development
Induction / NQT programmes
Special Educational Needs (SEND) provision
How it works
Support is completely tailored to your school’s needs.
Commonly, we would identify a practitioner (teacher, leader, headteacher or NLE) with specific expertise who can be ‘deployed’ into your school to provide support, for example through coaching and mentoring your own staff or working alongside you to put strategies and systems in place.
Support from a middle or senior leader (including our designated Specialist Leaders of Education) is chargeable and rates are agreed depending on the school’s needs e.g. SLEs are charged at £350 per day. A deployment could be for a day, a few days or much longer – depending on what you need. The time can be arranged as consecutive days or spread over a longer period.
Alternatively we could identify a team of leaders from one school or from across a number of schools, who can work together to provide support on a larger scale, e.g. to carry out a Teaching and Learning Review.
We are also able to offer one-off visits to see specific practice in our alliance schools, for example through ‘learning walks’, lesson observations and discussions with staff.
In addition, we can provide general coaching, monitoring or facilitation support. All of our schools have staff with experience and expertise in these roles.
All support is arranged through Warren Junior School as the designated Teaching School. When you contact us with your request for support, we then contact the schools or individuals in our alliance with the expertise and capacity as required. We act as a ‘broker’ or go-between, to set everything up and to help with any queries you might have. Your school will pay for the support that is agreed. We keep a small percentage of the payment, to cover the costs of the admin and management involved, then we transfer the rest of the funding to the school that is carrying out the support.
